Hello, I am Sophie

A couple of years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, elevated expectations. Daily tasks felt more complex than anticipated.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Created MildGardenStone
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
